Facade P-house Dockan

Facade P-house Dockan

This unique facade has been made possible by the knowledge we have previously developed within the bending sheet metal along curved lines. The facade consists of 16 uniquely shaped sheets that together form a surface similar to the ripples of water on a calm day on the lake. A digital model that simulates the bending process gives us control over the façade from sketch to production.

The facade is clad with storey-high cassettes suspended from the facade. The cassettes consist of a frame on which a curved sandwich panel is fixed.

The bending is done by CNC-milling a groove on the back of the plate, and then bending the plate along the groove. Depending on the curvature of the incoming line, the finished cassette has different three-dimensional expressions and a varying shadow effect.
