HSB's new office promotes collaboration and strengthens community
A workplace with a sense of home - HSB Södermanland has moved to new premises in Nyköping. FOJAB has assisted HSB all the way from detailed planning to interior design.
Where there used to be a parking lot in a former industrial area now stands a beautiful handmade brick building with a glulam frame, large mullioned windows and high ceilings. It is the new workplace for HSB Sörmland's approximately 60 employees. The building has a clear industrial character inspired by the history of the site, but also hints at studios and other creative spaces.
- HSB Sörmland's operations were previously divided into different buildings and different floors. Many people sat in their own rooms. An early ambition for the new office was therefore to be more social and promote collaboration, says Cage Copher, architect at FOJAB.
The new office building has a single floor that brings together all of HSB Sörmland's functions in one place - administration, sales and customer reception as well as mechanical workshop and carpentry. The office consists of different types of work environments suitable for different types of work tasks. The recurring theme for the interior design is "At home with HSB" and the environment in the office should reflect the feeling in HSB's own homes.
Rooms are cozy and varied, workspaces encourage movement and collaboration. The dining room and lounge are open and inviting, reflecting the living room feel of the home. The office layout leads to many spontaneous meetings between colleagues and in the center there is a courtyard for community and contemplation. The courtyard provides great views of greenery, which further enhances well-being.
The extra-high ceilinged entrance area is used to welcome customers and members, but it can also be used by staff, for hospitality and can be hired out for various events and meetings.
- FOJAB has been involved from the first idea to moving in, where the first sketch is very similar to the actual result. House and interior designers have worked seamlessly, which has enabled us to maintain the common thread all the way to the finish. A broadly represented group of employees from HSB has provided valuable input and we have refined the solutions together," says Märta Friman, interior architect at FOJAB.
The building will be certified according to Miljöbyggnad silver.
