Jarlaplatsen
Övre Johanneberg represents perhaps Gothenburg's best example of 1930s functionalist architecture. Externally, the new block fits respectfully into the cityscape, but at the same time dares to stand out with its own, modern interpretation of the area's character. The long, narrow, white slatted houses and the horizontal spread and rounded corners of the balconies have been inspired by the surrounding context.
In addition to housing, the buildings also contain a grocery store and a number of smaller premises. There is a wide variety of housing types, from small 1 ROOM apartments of 32 m² up to 6 ROOM apartments of 220 m² in storeys with their own roof terrace. Due to the block's high location in the city, many of the apartments have a breathtaking view.
The neighborhood is designed and planned by Erséus Arkitekter, which since 2025 is part of FOJAB.
