Brygghuset

Brygghuset

Lundbystrandskajen on Lindholmen in Gothenburg is lined with six buildings with narrow gables facing the water, with the dimensions defined by a strict detailed plan. The motif is partly inspired by the harbor warehouses of the past, which often turned their short sides towards the water. The office building Brygghuset was the last in the row to be built within this plan, designed and planned by Erséus Arkitekter, which since 2025 has been part of FOJAB.

The long side of the plot faces Brotorget, and the gable forms a backdrop for those crossing Lindholmshamnen on the much-used footbridge. The fact that the building right was the last along the quay, and perhaps the best, meant that we wanted to get the city's permission to make the building a little different from its neighbors. The local plan stipulated that all the buildings should be red and/or white. We wanted, and were allowed, to make an almost black building with a facade design that deviated from the context.

The facade is clad with dark anodized aluminum cassettes in a consistent grid pattern around evenly sized windows. Thanks to its large glass sections, the building feels extremely open, both from the outside and from the inside, where the harbor's water and boats can be experienced from virtually all workplaces.

The building's 6,600 square meters accommodate up to 12 tenants spread over 6 floors. The project is classified as Miljöbyggnad Gold.
