Askim church, which for a long time stood alone on its rock and thus constituted an important landmark, has been joined by a parish house. It was designed and planned by Erséus Arkitekter after winning a parallel assignment. Erséus has been part of FOJAB since 2025.

The dramatic topography north of the church offers good opportunities for the new parish hall to be subordinate to the older church, despite an extensive program of premises. The parish hall connects the upper and lower levels of the churchyard and creates a situation with some drama. The slate and wood facade materials are reminiscent of the older church building, but in a contemporary style. The building is designed as a low volume, slightly twisted from the main axis of the church and with a main entrance directly from the church hill.

In collaboration with landscape architect Thorbjörn Andersson at SWECO, the proposal has been supplemented with an ash cemetery in the hollow east of the parish hall. The building and the cemetery are connected, topographically but also visually. The building's perspective window takes in the cemetery, while the cemetery has its western boundary through the outer wall of the parish hall. The cemetery and the parish house are framed by a granite cold wall that provides some privacy.
