Angered Arena
Angered Arena is located adjacent to Angeredsgymnasiet at Angered Centrum. The site slopes down towards Lärjeån's winding valley and offers an almost pastoral landscape. The arena is designed and planned by Erséus Arkitekter, which since 2025 is part of FOJAB.
The project has an explicit public health promotion purpose where they wanted to give Angered's residents, not least the young, the chance to learn to swim and skate. In the district, swimming skills are low and few people have tried skating.
The pool includes a swimming training pool, a smaller teaching/rehab pool and an activity pool that combines play with physical exercise. There is also a separate relaxation area. Furthermore, the facility houses a full-size ice hockey rink with spectator stands and skate rentals, an activity hall for dance training and more, an athletics hall with running track and jumping pits, a gym and a café. Next door to Angered Arena is an older handball hall.
The swimming pool and activity hall are built in concrete, the other halls have lightweight structures. An outer layer of perforated aluminum wraps around the entire facility, with cassettes colored in various shades of blue-green. Together, these give a pixelated association with sun-glistening water or sparkling ice blocks.
